We welcome you with open arms and will assist you in every way possible to help promote and sell your items in a secure and trusted environment.
First things First... ( Make Sure You're Logged In )
Click Here - to update your PayPal account information. If you wish to accept PayPal as a forum of direct payment, you have to update this area. Once you're in the manage account page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your PayPal e-mail address in the empty field labeled PayPal Email Address. You may also visit the members area, find the My Account box and click on the Mange Account link.
Click Here - to update your mail preferences. If you want to be notified of an auction item being sold, bid on or if you receive user or system messages, you must check the boxes on the selections you want e-mailed to you.
Click Here - to enable your FREE Store. Your free store allows for up to 25 items. Should you need to list more than that, you are welcome to upgrade your subscription for only pennies a day. To enable store, check the box labeled Enable Store and then select Basic Store by clicking the radio button.
Click Here - to update your prefilled fields. These fields are set here so that anytime you create a new auction, your defaults will be set for you. In this section you will want to set your default item listing period, shipping conditions, insurance options and fees, and all the payment methods you accept. Everything you enter in this page will be your default on all future auction listings. We recommend checking all options under Global Settings at the bottom of this page. If you set your auction duration to 30 days, you can re-list every item up to 11 times, which means you will get a full year of listing each item you post at no cost to you.
Click Here - to update and enable your About Me page. This is optional, but every little bit helps.
Click Here - to update your profile page. If you want buyers to contact you via instant messenger, enable this option and enter the appropriate data. This feature is optional.
If you followed the steps above, you should be all set and ready to start selling. The links below provide additional help topics on managing your account. It's highly recommend that you also review these pages.
(Be sure to review our site fees. If the fee isn't displayed, it doesn't exist)
Stores: All members are welcome to open a FREE store up to 25 items. Should you need to maintain more than 25 items, you may upgrade your store for as little as $3.00 a month and selling fees ON SOLD ITEMS are 2% for all sold item values. Wow!!!
Buyers:
Sellers on RookieVault are not forced to participate in our ID Verified program. We do however strongly recommend it. If you wish to buy from a seller that is not ID verified, ask more questions and get a better feel about the seller.
PS: If you sell a variety of collectible items, we'd like to invite you to our sister site www.BidZooey.com. This is a great site for buying, selling or trading all things collectible.
Account balances and fee management is easily managed on the RookieVault. Sellers can pay their balances at any time and may also credit their accounts at any time. Our preferred way to have sellers pay or credit their accounts is with PayPal.
Unlike eBay, that will allow you to generate hundreds of dollars in fees before payment is due, we cap your balance at $50.00. This means when your account reaches $50.00 in selling fees, you must pay that down or risk having your account disabled. We believe setting this fee to $50.00 is much more manageable to the seller. It's a lot easier to pay $50.00 then try to scramble to pay $200.00. With 2% in final value fees, you would have to sell an aweful lot to generate $50.00 in fees.
Account balances are due every 30 days or when a sellers account balance reaches $50.00, whichever comes first. Our minimum allowance for paying on accounts is $10.00.
If you wish to send in payments by check, money order or cash, send payments to the address below and we'll credit your account the exact funds you send in.
The auction watch feature notifies you of newly listed auctions, which contain keywords you have chosen. For example if you are looking for a Reggie Bush rookie card, you could enter "reggie bush" as keywords from within your members area. Each time a new auction is listed containing those keywords you will be notified by email.
If the option is available you can use “Buy Out” or "Buy-it-Now" to purchase the item immediately without having to place a bid. Buy Out is the same thing you might be familiar with on eBay as a buy-it-now feature. Sellers may offer such an option, which can be used at any time until a bid has been placed over any applicable reserve price.
The “Buy Out” option will appear on the item details page. If you select this option as a buyer, you will be asked to confirm your intention to buy out the item before the sale is concluded.Buy out’s cannot be retracted and buying an item under the buy out or buy-it-now option is considered a legal and binding sale.
We will do whatever it takes to organize our categories to best fit our sellers, so if you don't see a category that YOU feel best fits your product, submit a request for a new category. There are so many collectible items out there, so it's easy to miss a few. Some items may have to be listed in multiple categories. Help us help you!
When suggesting a new category, be as details as possible in your request. If you need a root level category and a number of sub-categories or sub-sub categories, we'll get them created for you. If after we're done and more tweaking is needed, just let us know and we'll eventually get it right.
If the link above doesn't direct you properly, you can access this page by going into your members area, clicking on the Selling link and then click on the Suggest a Category link. You will be given a large text box, so explain away!!!
Final value fees are fees sellers pay when an item sells. Items can be re-listed forever FREE of charge, so no fees will be collected unless the item sells. No sale... no fee.
The RookieVault does not charge for auction or store listings unless the listing is upgraded to home page and/or category featured, bold or highlighted, so go list 10,000 items if you want. It's FREE.
Now, when an item sells, the seller is obligated to pay a final value fee. This final value fee is paid to the RookieVault for allowing you to sell your item. It's a commission back to the RookieVault.
Current final value fee is 2% on all values. For every dollar your item sells for, RookieVault receives .02 cents. The RookieVault only has one final value fee range. Your item(s) can sell from $0.01 to $5,000.000.00 and it's only 2%.
The fastest way to sell is to click the Sell tab at the top of any page.
RookieVault offers 3 selling options, which are auction item, store item or both.
Auction items are items you list as an auction. Auction only items will not be seen in sellers store.
Store items are items that you list to add to your your. Store items are visible in auction listings.
Both is a combination of a store item and an auction item. If you own a store, you should always select "both" as a selling option for best results.
To list your item simply click on the “Sell” link found on the header navigational bar. The listing process is split up into several main sections, notably:-
Category selection (1st and 2nd category)
Item Details
Auction Settings
Shipping and Payment
Listing preview
Listing confirmation (post auction)
The listing process is developed in such a way that you are guided through every step seamlessly. It's a 7 step process, but easy to follow.
Step 1: The first part of the process is to choose the category you wish to list your item in, this can be revised at any time by using the “Previous Step” navigation button.
Step 2: Step two enables you to select a 2nd category for your auction item. You can select a 2nd category FREE of charge or you can skip it. It's your choice.
Step 3: Step three enables you to enter your item title and description. We provide a full WYSIWYG editor to enable you to use HTML descriptions. You can start from scratch, copy and paste or bring in your own HTML code. We allow a long title area, so use all you can until you run out of characters.
If RookieVault is running a promotion, you will receive a voucher block. If you have a voucher code and wish to redeem it, this can be done by entering in that code just below the description field. If you do not see a voucher block, it means RookieVault is not running any discounts.
If the voucher code you entered is invalid, you will still be taken to step 4 and at the top of the page, you will see that your entered code was invalid. You can ignore and continue without applying your voucher or you can go back and make sure you've entered the correct code.
Moving on to step four is the biggest stage of the listing process. On at this step... you can set the following:
· Auction type:
Standard Auction - This is a single quantity auction
Dutch Auction - Dutch auction enables you to list a multiple quantity auction, for example if you have 100 like items such as hot wheels, bubble mailers, tape, sports apparel, or other to sell you can list all of these together in a single auction. Bidders will be able to select how many they want to buy during the bidding process.
· Currency:
You can select your preferred auction currency using the drop down menu available. Site default is the US Dollar because RookieVault is hosted out of the United States ( in Florida ). If you wish to use your own countries currency, you may do that. We provide a currency conversion tool for buyers to see how much the item would cost in their money.
· Quantity:
This field is only active if listing a Dutch auction, please see above for an explanation of this listing type
· Auction Starts At:
This requires you to enter the minimum bid you are willing to accept for your item. You can also set a reserve price to ensure you do not sell the item for auctions start price amount. Please see below for more information on setting reserve pricing.
· Reserve Price:
Enabling a reserve price effectively means you will not sell the item for less than the amount set in the reserve price field. For example you can set the start price at $5.00 but only accept winning bids over $50.00, should a bid be placed at $49.99 the item will close without a winner.
· Buy Out / Buy-it-Now ( if available ):
The Buy Out or Buy-it-Now feature allows you to set an amount you are willing to sell the item for – straight out, no questions asked, you buy it at this amount and it's yours. For example you can set the start price at $10.00 but offer interested parties the option to buy the item immediately for $15.00.
You don't necessary have to have an item up for auction where there is a bidding process. You can list your item as a buy out / buy-it-now only auctions and remove all bidding options. This means the auctioned item can only be purchased for a set amount. To set a buy out / buy-it-now only auction, you need to set the buy out / buy-it-now value equal with the start bid ( both fields have to be the exact value ).
· Offer-Range (if available):
This is a fabulous feature that allows buyers to make offers on your auctions. You can set a price bracket in which you are willing to accept the offer of you can leave the price fields empty and accept any offer range. For example, you are selling an item for $50.00, but will only accept offers that fall between $45.00 and $49.99. If this is the case, enter $45.00 and $49.99 in their perspective fields. Offers that are not in your range will be declined for you.
If you wish to accept "any offer on any value", check the box to accept make offer and leave the range fields blank.
This feature is optional. Check the box if you want offers made or leave unchecked if you do not wish to accept offers.
You can opt whether to accept or decline these offers at any time via the members area.
· Bid increment:
This option can be used to set your own custom bid increment if preferred. We offer our own and encourage you to use default settings.
· Item featuring (if available):
The following options are available to all auction listings and some fees may apply. Features like home page and category featured will highlight your item on site to ensure they reach more visitors. Options include:
Home page featured
Category featured
Highlighted background
Bold text
If any fees apply, it will be noted next to the upgraded feature.
· Set start/end time:
You can either opt to list your item right away (recommended default), set a defined number of days for your item to be live, or you have the option to define your own custom start/end time.
· Private Auction:
Private auction will hide the bidders identity on the item details page
· Image upload:
To accompany your item, you can either upload images from your local computer or enter the URL of an image(s) hosted elsewhere. We allow up to 15 images free of charge.
· Media upload:
In addition to images you can also upload media files. Only .avi / .mpeg and .mov formats are supported.
· Auto Re-List:
For your convenience, you can opt to have your items automatically re-listed for you. Options are available to allow you to select whether the item should be re-listed if sold and how many re-list attempts should be made. For items that you stock regularly, it's wise to re-list even when item sells.
RookieVault allows for 11 re-lists free of charge, so if you run your auctions for 30 days at a time, you will receive a full year of uninterrupted listings.
· Location:
Here you will see your default location, state / province and zip code.
You have now completed step 4.
Step 5:
On Step five, you can set your shipping and payment preferences. Below are the options you'll have.
Buyer pays for shipping expenses (default)
Seller pays for shipping expenses
If seller ships Internationally (check box if you do - leave unchecked if you don't)
Post fee for the item being sold
Insurance to cover any damages for the item being sold (always enter an insurance amount)
Shipping and payment details
Available methods of delivery (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL and Other)
Direct payment methods like PayPal ( you must check this box if you want to accept PayPal on that item
Other payment options you accept like credit cards, money orders, checks, bank transfers and cash
You have completed step 5.
Step 6:
Step six is nothing more than a review page or you to review everything you've done up to this point. You can review the listing and make changes if required. You can still edit your listing once live via the members area. If you are satisfied with your auction item, click next and go to step 7, which is the final listing step.
Step 7:
Step seven... the final step in your listing process. Information available to you include:
A snapshot of your listing
Images you uploaded with your listing
All the payment methods you accept
Your shipping details
Your total cost to run that auction (good luck seeing that on eBay)
That's it... you have one last thing to do and that is to POST YOUR AUCTION. At this stage you can send your item to auction or you can save it as a draft item that you can go back later to edit. Item in draft are not live. If you are ready to run an item in draft, all you have to do is go to your draft items and list the ones you want.
To post your ad, you have to click on the LIST NOW button.
You will receive an item listing confirmation if successful
ID Verification is optional, but highly recommended if you wish to sell on the RookieVault. Being seller verified shows credibility to the RookieVault by showing we have taken measures to bring in only the most trusted sellers and it also shows buyers that good and honest sellers are selling here, which puts them more at ease when buying. Those that are not serious about selling collectible items or may be fraudulent in nature will not take the time to become ID verified, so get verified.
The fee for ID verification is only $5.00 for a 365 day period or if you change your user profile data, whichever comes first. Once you're verified, your username will display a member ID verified icon. Should you ever change your profile details or exceed a 365 day period, your ID status will become unverified and will require you to verify your account again. Either way, it's still optional.
The item watch feature lets you keep a close eye on any auction without having to place a bid on it. This feature keeps you up to date on how an auction is doing and prepares you in placing a winning last minute bid. You can watch any auction by clicking on the “Watch this item” link on any auction page.
Do you want to sell and receive payment via PayPal?
Before you start selling, we highly recommend you enter a PayPal user ID (e-mail address) inside the members area, so that your account is properly setup. If you don't setup your PayPal ID correctly and you attempt to create a new auction, the option to accept PayPal for that item will be grayed out, so take a few minutes to make sure your account settings are correct.
Once you have the page open, scroll down to the very bottom of the page where you will see a block named Direct Payment Settings. It is this empty space where you need to enter your PayPal e-mail ID.
Click UPDATE and you're done.
That's it! You can now accept PayPal as a payment on all auctions you create.
Placing a bid on an item you want couldn’t be easier. When viewing the item details page, you will have two areas from where you can place your bid. One is next to the item details and the other is at the bottom of the page.
To place your bid, enter the amount you wish to bid e.g. $50.00. Currency symbols are NOT required. The bid will be placed in the auction currency.
Once you've placed your bid, you will be asked to review your bid. You will also be able to view vital item details, such as the shipping conditions before confirming your bid.To submit your bid simply press the “Place Bid” button.
If your bid is high enough to take the lead in the auction, a confirmation message will be displayed to you. However, if your bid has not taken the lead, which could be due to a higher proxy bid or your bid not meeting the reserve price, you will be invited to make a further bid.
Should you decide to retract your bid this can be done via the “Current Bids” section of the member’s area.
You can also place a proxy bid! Proxy bidding allows you to place your “High Bid”. If the item closes at a lower value than your highest bid offer, you will only pay the lowest required bid, should you go on to win the auction. For example, if the current bid on an auction is $500.00 you can place a proxy bid of $600.00.Should you remain the only bidder you will only pay $500.00.However should the item receive other bids the site will automatically re-bid for you (up to $600.00 in this scenario) to ensure you remain in the lead.
