A Note and Closing Comments from the President and CEO:
As the President and CEO of the Rookie Vault and an avid collector myself, I became very frustrated with the online fees charged by sites like eBay, LiveDealand uBid, just to mention a few, so I took it upon myself to create an online environment that would be fun and productive and wouldn't hurt your pockets. That's pretty much how the Rookie Vaultcame about.
For years I had a love and passion for the buying and selling of sports cards, but found that "most" of my proceeds were going towards fees. It really took the enjoyment away from selling as I found I was working very hard for very little in return. I can't accept how a top players sports card with a book value of $50 and #'d to 25 can sell for $5 and $7 on some of these online auctions sites. Without pulling that card yourself out of a pack, you know it cost you more than $5 or $7 to acquire that card. When you calculate your listing fee, your selling fee, your PayPal or Merchant fee and the time you invested to list that item, you'll realize that you're working for pennies and probably lost money on a deal like that. This happens again and again and again.
What are sellers doing now? They are jacking up the shipping fees to help offset their seller fees. Sellers are now charging upwards of $5.00 for a single sports card that they ship First Class via the USPS. You can say all you want about the handling costs, materials, gas and so on, but the reality is... sellers are using every avenue they can to make that sale profitable.
The Rookie Vault hopes to change that. I created a site where you can list your sports items (by the hundreds and thousands), in an auction environment themed for rookie cards and supporting supplies. And we offer auction periods from 1 to 30 days at no additional charge.
